How do I repair my credit report after receiving my bankruptcy discharge?

The filing of a bankruptcy in Philadelphia will remain on your credit report for a ten year period. The debts that are discharged should be removed giving you an opportunity to obtain a "fresh start". It is recommended that upon receiving a discharge you should apply for a small store charge and a secured credit card with a minimum balance of no more than five hundred ($500.00) dollars. Your charges should be no more than the amount of money that you can afford to pay each month, eliminating the need to pay interest on unpaid balances. Also, you cannot file another Chapter 7 bankruptcy for eight years. With this in mind, creditors maybe prepared to extend credit, knowing that the chances of refiling is unlikely.
